World Foundation has raised $52.5 million through a new funding round by selling locked WLD tokens to strategic investors. Pantera Capital, a digital asset investment firm, led the round. Other participants included Bain Capital Crypto, the crypto investment division of Bain Capital, Eightco Holdings, a publicly listed investment company, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto. All purchased tokens will remain locked for 12 months.
The new funding will support the global expansion of World ID, a digital identity system designed to verify that an online user is a real person without revealing personal information. Verification is completed through the Orb device, which creates a unique World ID stored on the user’s smartphone. The system relies on advanced cryptography and zero-knowledge proof technology to protect privacy.
The funding comes as World enters a new stage focused on expanding real-world adoption. According to the foundation, more than 39 million people have joined World Network, while over 18 million users have completed Orb verification. Since launch, the network has processed more than 475 million World ID verification requests, with further enterprise and developer integrations planned through the recently introduced World ID 4.0 platform.
