Solana has regained strong bullish momentum as traders assess a sharp price rally and an upcoming network speed upgrade. $SOL climbed 13.45% over 24 hours and 13.90% over seven days, reaching $87.94.
The move followed a decisive breakout from a lengthy $74 to $77 consolidation range. Meanwhile, derivatives positioning remains cautious after open interest fell sharply from its September peak.
$SOL Pushes Toward a Key Resistance
$SOL’s latest advance has placed the token near its recent swing high at $87.33. The price briefly moved beyond that level before encountering profit-taking pressure.
However, the broader structure continues to favor buyers. $SOL trades well above its 20, 50, 100, and 200 EMAs. Those averages currently sit near $79.48, $77.41, $76.37, and $75.85.
Consequently, the moving-average structure confirms strong short-term momentum. The recent breakout also created a series of higher highs and higher lows.
Still, traders could see additional volatility after such a rapid advance. The $84.48 level now offers the first important test during any pullback.
Support Levels Could Shape the Next Move
A decline below $84.48 could send $SOL toward the $82.25 Fibonacci level. Buyers would need to defend that zone to preserve the latest bullish structure.
Moreover, $80.68 represents another important support level near the 0.5 Fibonacci retracement. The $79.10 to $79.50 area carries even greater importance.
That zone combines the 0.382 Fibonacci level with the 20-day EMA. Hence, sustained trading above it would keep the broader recovery intact.

If $SOL breaks $87.33 with strong volume, the token could enter price discovery above recent resistance. Conversely, a move below $79.50 would weaken the bullish setup.
Open Interest Remains a Caution Signal
Solana’s derivatives market presents a more measured picture than its recent price performance. Open interest previously surged from below $1 billion to nearly $17 billion.
That expansion accompanied $SOL’s earlier rally and reflected aggressive derivatives participation. However, open interest later dropped sharply as the market entered a prolonged correction.
Recent figures place open interest near $5.65 billion on August 20. The decline suggests traders have reduced leveraged exposure despite $SOL’s latest recovery.
Therefore, sustained open-interest growth could provide stronger confirmation if $SOL continues climbing. Rising prices without renewed derivatives participation could instead signal cautious positioning.
Faster Network Clock Adds Another Catalyst
Solana will reduce its network clock interval from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds on August 21. The protocol change marks its first speed increase since genesis.
Significantly, faster block timing could allow applications to process executed transactions more frequently. Developers may eventually use that additional cadence across suitable applications.

Technical Outlook for Solana
Key levels remain well-defined heading into the next trading phase:
Upside levels: $87.33 is the immediate resistance. A breakout could open the path toward higher levels as limited price structure exists above this zone.
Downside levels: $84.48 provides initial support, followed by $82.25 and $80.68. The $79.10–$79.50 area remains the critical trend support zone.
Resistance ceiling: $87.33 is the key level to flip for continued bullish momentum. A decisive close above it could strengthen the breakout structure.
Will Solana Go Up?
Solana’s near-term direction hinges on whether buyers can defend $84.48 and reclaim $87.33. The recent breakout from the $74–$77 consolidation range supports the bullish case. However, elevated short-term gains could trigger additional profit-taking.
If buying pressure strengthens above $87.33, $SOL could extend its advance and enter a new price-discovery phase. Conversely, losing $84.48 could expose the token to $82.25 and $80.68. A break below $79.50 would weaken the broader bullish structure.

For now, $SOL remains at a pivotal technical zone. The network’s faster 350ms clock adds a fresh fundamental catalyst, but price confirmation remains essential for the next major move.
