Billionaire venture capitalist Tim Draper has once again delivered an extremely bullish prediction for Bitcoin.

He has argued that the cryptocurrency could eventually go "infinite" against the U.S. dollar due to accelerating adoption.

Draper made the prediction on X after commenting on the growing adoption of Bitcoin payments. "First they’ll say, 'We accept Bitcoin.' Then they’ll say, "We only accept Bitcoin,'" he wrote. He then predicted that a run on banks would follow, eventually leading to a fundamental transformation of the financial system.

The venture capitalist concluded that Bitcoin could "go infinite against the US dollar."

In the meantime, Bitcoin payment adoption continues to expand. In March, Block began automatically enabling Bitcoin payments for eligible U.S. Square sellers. The rollout was expected to reach millions of merchants.

Crypto-friendly states are winning

The venture capitalist's Draper Innovation Index has recently shown U.S. states are creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs.

Texas, for instance, climbed to fourth place in the March 2026 U.S. ranking. Oklahoma rose to 15th. Cryptocurrency and blockchain investment have contributed to the outperformance of these states.

Draper has also continued to dismiss concerns about the technological threats that $BTC is facing. In June, he argued that quantum computing is more likely to compromise traditional banks before it compromises Bitcoin.

In a March interview, Draper compared the transition from traditional banking to Bitcoin with the shift from horses to automobiles.

The elusive $250,000 target

For all of Draper's talk of Bitcoin going "infinite," the cryptocurrency still has a considerably more modest milestone to conquer first: $250,000.

Draper reiterated in April that Bitcoin could reach $250,000 within 18 months, citing adoption and the debasement of fiat currencies as key catalysts.

That target remains elusive. Bitcoin is trading under $64,000 on Wednesday.

Draper's $250,000 call is also notable because he has repeatedly moved the deadline for the prediction.

His original major Bitcoin forecast came in 2014, when he predicted that $BTC would reach $10,000 within several years. Bitcoin eventually crossed that level in November 2017.

Draper subsequently made a much more ambitious $250,000 prediction. In 2018, he forecast that Bitcoin would reach that level by the end of 2022. The timeline was pushed back. He later continued to argue that the $250,000 milestone remained achievable, including predictions for 2024 and 2025.

In November 2024, Draper was still calling for Bitcoin to reach $120,000 by the end of that year and $250,000 in 2025. That deadline also passed without Bitcoin reaching the target. Earlier this year, he doubled down on the target.

The path from roughly $64,000 to $250,000 would require an increase of nearly 290%.
