Perp DEX’s have delivered plenty of activity, but the tokens aren’t moving as one. In 2026, $HYPE is up 113%, while $ASTER is down 13% and $LIT has slipped 5%. The number behind the three venues make the gap even harder to ignore.

Hyperliquid Still Owns Most Trading Activity

Over the past 30 days, Hyperliquid processed $198.4 billion in derivatives volume, compared with $40 billion for Aster and $33.8 billion for Lighter. That gives $HYPE roughly 72.9% of combined flow.

The fee picture is even more striking. As Hyperliquid generated $48.3 million in fees, versus $4.4 million for Aster and $2.5 million for Lighter.

Open interest also shows the similar story, where $HYPE is having $9 billion, $1.9 billion for $ASTER, and $700 million for $LIT.

Lighter Looks Cheap, But Revenue Lags

Lighter’s appeal is valuation.volume-to-market cap ratio stands at 0.017, compared with 0.040 for $ASTER and 0.061 for $HYPE, while retail traders pay zero fees.

But that advantage comes with a catch. Lighter generated only $24 million in holder revenue over trailing year, compared with $765 million for $HYPE and $12 million for $ASTER.

Meanwhile, Aster has more than 2 million wallets, but the provided data describes much of that activity as heavily farm driven. Hyperliquid has more than 300K active traders, with a smaller but reportedly more organic user base.

Token Valuations Make The Decision Messier

The problem is dilution. $HYPE carries a $12.05 billion market cap against $51.76 billion FDV, while $ASTER sits at $1.61 billion versus $4.69 billion versus $4.69 billion and $LIT at $581 million versus $2.32 billion.

So yes, Hyperliquid dominates usage revenue. But at a $51 billion FDV, the market already knows it. While, Lighter looks cheaper on several measures but needs to convert usage into stronger holder accrual, while Aster has to prove its wallet numbers translate into durable flow.

For Perp DEX’s, the trade off is becoming clear that $HYPE is the established leader, $LIT is the value argument, and $ASTER remains the momentum bet.
